About Ronald Hansen

Ronald Hansen brings nearly 50 years of experience across the maritime and offshore industries, having started his seagoing career at the age of 16. His background spans ship operations, shipowner management, newbuilding, conversions, marine technology and complex project delivery.
Ronald Hansen’s background combines experience from the owner’s organisation with senior roles in shipbuilding, offshore projects and marine battery technology. This provides a practical foundation for understanding client needs, evaluating technical solutions and coordinating delivery across organisations.
Shipowner and operational experience
At Utkilen and Jo Tankers, Ronald held management roles covering fleet operations, technical management, organisational development and newbuilding activities. His responsibilities included shipyard cooperation, contract negotiations, vessel inspections and follow-up of third-party ship managers.
His seagoing engineering background and Chief Engineer’s licence of the highest grade provide a strong understanding of vessel operations, maintenance and lifecycle requirements.
Project leadership and client responsibility
At Bergen Group, Ronald managed the delivery of complex offshore and subsea vessels, acting as the shipyard’s main point of contact for the shipowner.
As Senior Project Manager at Aibel, he led offshore modification projects for Statoil (now Equinor), with responsibility for contract execution, multidisciplinary teams, budgets, schedules, quality and client communication.
Marine technology and electrification
Ronald played a key role in the early development of Corvus Energy in Norway and worked with the company for more than 10 years. His roles included Global Head of Service and SVP Ship Solutions.
Working directly with shipowners, designers and shipyards, he connected vessel operating requirements with marine battery systems, battery-room concepts, commissioning, service and retrofit solutions.
Defence and maritime capabilities
Ronald served as Technical Manager within Technology & Design at the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (FMA), working on a major project for new standardised vessels for the Norwegian Navy and Coast Guard.
His background also includes operational service as an engineer aboard a Norwegian Navy submarine.
